More than ever, the media and printing industry needs strong connections with research and innovation. Printing can no longer be thought solely as a technology which aims to put ink on paper, in order to reproduce texts and images. Printed electronics, printed functionalities, non-printed digital media, customer issues are now in the scope of media and print.
With 49 members from 22 countries, iarigai is the worldwide association supporting print and media research by bringing together research organizations - institutes, companies and universities, for the benefit of industry and society.
To take up the new challenges arising from a fast and continuous evolution of this field, the need for new technical competences, high level research, cooperation and information exchange is increasing tremendously.
The scope of the association is therefore to promote the quality of scientific advances in the domain, and to increase the opportunities for sharing knowledge and experiences.
The association organizes annual International research conferences, during which recent results are highlighted, and formal and informal social interactions are facilitated. The proceedings of these conferences, the Advances in Printing and Media Technology, are now recognized as an international serial publication.
Moreover, in order to answer the demand of knowledge dissemination at a high-quality level the Journal of Print and Media Technology Research, a quarterly peer-reviewed periodical, was created in September 2011.
Serving our existing members and welcoming new ones, anticipating the future evolutions in the field, while serving the present needs of the industry, are the challenges we have to face in the coming years.
